Last week, Good Morning America had a segment on rubies purchased from Macy’s.  Seems as though a gemologist and reporter visited three stores and made a few purchases. They were not informed that the rubies they bought had been treated and would require special care – even though they asked!

There was signage in the showcases indicating that many gemstones are heat-treated.  But, this isn’t sufficient information for any sale. Clearly, the sales associate was not educated about gemstone treatments nor taught by the management to disclose all treatments, especially those that require special care.     Why not?   …Dii
