Zircon compliments of AGTA

What’s the number one appeal of a color gemstone?  The color, silly! We see it, we get into it, and we just plain love the color of it! So what’s a good Quality Tip to help you know if the gemstone you love is worth the price?

Color – the color should be described as rich! Pastels are great for baby blankets; not so great for gemstones! Say the word, VIVID! Doesn’t it just sound beautiful? That’s what you want to find in a gemstone.  A vivid blue sapphire or a vivid purple amethyst – vibrant color that takes your breath away – that’s what makes the price climb. I don’t mean to insult those of you who like the lighter colors, but they shouldn’t be represented as rare or tagged with a high price.

There are exceptions to every rule – some gemstones are never VIVID.  Mother Nature just does that!  …Dii
